Release

Posted by MaestroRage - February 5th, 2009

In the coming weeks the project that's been under wraps will be released and a flood of new songs will be graced to the portal! For now the best I can do is offer yet another video clip with the song to give you all a taste of what the music will be like!

This should be the high quality format but if it's not you can click on this link to listen to the higher quality one (thanks Danman87 for the tip!)

I'm quite excited for this project, I hope you enjoy the tune!

What program do you use?

Because finale just hasn't really been cutting it for the instrumentation I want.

I use Fruity Studios as my sequencer (put all my notes in) and a variety of third party instrument libraries for the instrumentation. Currently the prime focus for these instruments are from East West.

My next intended target is Symphobia from Project SAM, looks like a killer library.

You are my absolute audical hero.
I 5'd most of your songs over 10 times and listen to them weekly. Keep up the good work!

Glad to hear it! I hope the songs entertain you for a long while to come!

Eh.. those types of programs arn't the type for me... I've been brought up through writting it on paper first... Then MAYBE putting it to a program... Like finale... So I'm old school when it comes to composition. LIke Frank Ticheli (if you're a composer you SHOULD know who he is lol.)

you could very well use the plug-ins in Sibelius, which is a traditional notation program. Though I can respect your choices on how to go about composing, I personally feel that way is outdated. I sequence first, notate later. To each his own.

wtf man... this looks like Martyr's Scorn next version =O
i think this one is better though.....
like always..

it kind of is! Martyr's scorn was the first attempt for the game, which wasn't of the right type so I finished it on my own time and plan to release it as a extended mix that has both this take and the first into one long song! I'll release this mega monster mix when the game is released, which should be in a couple weeks at most!

I can't wait to release the high quality versions to NG! I hope you'll be here to hear it when I do!

Well the only thing I don't really like about those types of programs is the fact that it seems more of composing with the intent on "what sounds cool" rather than to actually know what you're doing.. If you know what I mean.

I agree whole heartadly, and the sad truth is a LOT of people do just that. When you use a piano roll it is very easy to forget notation and applying theory to the sequencer can be very difficult at first. However the reason I use the piano roll is because with notation it is very hard to be flawed.

Flawed?

Yeah, flawed. I purposely move notes a little bit left or right to make notes hit just a tad too early or too late, I tell each note how loud it should be so that when I have a run of notes it would sound more realistic then if it were just told via notation. I like to use synths in some instances, large boom percussion sections sound much more epic if they are layered incorrectly (again referring to moving notes a bit left and right to imitate a large army of them hitting together).

It is just impossible to achieve these with traditional notation software, which is why I find myself using a sequencer because as a digital composer clients want everything from you. They want you to produce realistic music with an unrealistic budget, and this realism I find, is only possible via sequencer.

However don't get me wrong, many great composers use notation software and have landed great jobs. Just look at danman87, he is one such composer. Winterwind-NS notates his music first as well I believe.

when do u release? i will be sure that im gonna be online then =)

Why are you not a mod anymore?

the tune sounds like matyrs scorn =)
