Interesting

I actually liked your voice, I felt it gave a strange feel to the piece. True there were some moments it didn't work with the song's melody, but overall it was a rather neat feeling.

The song's beginning was very powerful, I really liked it. gr4ve knows more about electronic arts then me so take his advice more seriously, I can only tell you what I liked and didn't ;).

The fast arpeggiated notes gave it a powerful push. The robotic vox wasn't that annoying, but the transition to your voice again was far too quick, with no break down, or crash or nothing, I felt it could have been handled better.

The ending, where your voice trailed off saying "free", I thought that part was handled down perfect.

All in all a good piece, well done! Keep up the good fight. I'd like to invite you to check out my work sometime. Keep them coming Dj-PinkWalrus

Dj-PinkWalrus responds:

you know, listening back on this, I would have to say that the transition to my voice, specifically in the middle of the song, was a little to abrupt. Thank you very much for the advice! I will for sure look at your work!

Take care Twisted.

Such a sullen, subtle piece. I can hear all sorts of emotions and voices in this piece. There is a sadness of course, there can never be a farewell without hues of sorrow flowing from it's core.

However there is also a dream like feel to the piece. I get the image of somebody sitting on a sandy beach, on an island, just gazing up at the stars.

The beach sound is excellent to it's cause here. It really gives off that feeling of lonelyness, that extra edge of sorrow to push the song forward.

When that flute comes in it was quite interesting. I wonder what this song would have been like if you added more reverb. It would have sounded lonelier, it would have sounded more distant. Like something you can never touch, but is always there.

I was a little disappointed you didn't do more with that harp you had at the beginning. I felt that harp held a HUGE amount of power for this piece, it DEMANDED you knew how it felt, and with the seashore it was a great piece to the puzzle.

In any case, I am always saddened to see a fellow artist leave, but such is the world that we live in. I wish for you the best for whatever you may do from here on. Keep up the fighting spirit! I won't say goodbye, because I do not believe in saying thus. By saying goodbye it entails we may never meet again, and i'm fairly sure this is not true. So I guess, i'll see you later ;).

Twistedtechnology responds:

well, i do have AIM ^^ so if you ever wanna get in touch my screen name is kenshin9989 ^^ I have one more piece that uses the harp, it was far to big to put on newgrounds, and with all the zero voting going around i wasnt going to even bother posting here anyway. If you go to dmusic *dotcom* and look in the classical/orchestral section, there will be a song called "Searching for a Light" perhaps the harp in that one would do more than this one did XD Thanks tons for the review!
IT really means a lot to me ^^

Damn impressive!

I felt this song had a lot of power in it! I really enjoyed the sound effects you had going on in the background, and those strange hi hats sounds which border on the feel of a siren of course fueled your whole image.

I really liked the melodies you had going on here! The strings, the piano, everything worked DAMN well in my opinion! I'd say that the song borders on classical more so then trance.

The strings, were just divine. I really liked how you worked them. I can't believe this song got such a low score.

You've mixed in a good deal of synths as well as real instruments, which is a feat I can respect for it is something I can't do yet so mad respect points to you.

Here comes the sirens and glitched up saw synths! The song gets more and more frantic. I was expecting some kind of big explosion at the end, it kinda trailed off, but it was still damn impressive.

In any case, great work, 5 from me! I'd like you to check out some of my work sometime! Keep up the good fight, and keep them coming preffertobedead!

preffertobedead responds:

Thanks a lot!!...i was hoping someone get the feel of those strings =)...i get a low score because of the mass Zerovotes on all the portal...you know the problem...=S

Impressive

The second that flute melody came in, I thought the song was becoming truly intense. Then you bring in that oboe and the songs core alters. It changes from it's peaceful state into something a tad sadder, and you introduce that piano very well!

The song is TOO SHORT! XO!!!
WHWWWHYYY11!1!?

You're really onto something here, I think this song could become truly something powerful! If you're using Fruity Studio's, I would like to try and finish this song, with your permission of course. There is just so much I see to this.

In any case, this song really clicked with me. It reminds me so much of my earlier style, and I miss that style so...

5/5 from me i2, keep up the great work!

i2abbitz responds:

of course you can!! :) lemme figure out a way to send it to you..

Neat

You're making much better use of that Delay Llama then I could hope to ;P.

In any case the song as you said sounds like it's some kind of dream, ethereal thing, which I guess with a title called dreams, is a good thing! I thought there was like... some kind of whale sounds somewhere in the background at some point. I didn't have any clue what to make of it XD. But it was pretty impressive.

If only there was a way to make the pitch of that Delay Llama change at your whim, thats where it's true strength really lies. I've heard some demo's and let me tell you, it has some SERIOUS power, but it's hard to tap. I don't think Fruity Studio's can alternate it's pitch, it IS a rather old VST.

Anyways, the song was pretty clean, looped well, and just an entertaining listen overall. I liked your harp like instrument, it really set the mood right, with plenty of pads and background sounds to furthar emphasize this feeling. Good stuff Echoz, good stuff indeed.

EchozAurora responds:

I really wish that I could change the vowel sounds, that would allow for a lot of play. You can on the VST, but not through the piano roll. I hope the next version of FL allows you to program controls on external VSTs like it does on knobs inside the program. Not too sure how that could be done, but it would open up a world of possibilities.

Interesting

This should definitely should have been in Techno, it's such an interesting mix. You've got some glitching going on and that was pretty neat. I felt the song sounded a tad empty until those synths came in sometime halfway, the melody work there was rather enjoyable.

Then you broke into hardcore glitchness!

Definately an interesting track, i'm surprised nobody else has reviewed it! In any case, excellent stuff, keep up the good work! I'd like to invite you to check out my work sometime.

ABITA responds:

yeah.... i was hoping for more feedback but oh well...Thank you though. :)

Impressive

An interesting story, I am a little surprised to hear only feelings of peace, joy, and overall pleasantness. For my friend you are forgetting, not everybody could look at life with a smile.

In any case I know you are using Fruity Loops, so i'm going to tell you where you can find some excellent soundfonts.

www.sf2midi.com

That place has some EXCELLENT soundfonts. One of the best strings soundfonts is called squidfont. Trust me, it's brilliant!

Once you download the soundfonts simply place them into the fruity loops folder (create a folder if you'd like), and when you enter fruity loops you should be able to find that folder (you might have to restart Fruity), and you can use all the soundfonts.

Back to the song, I like what you did with what you had. I know this song is mostly supposed to be you learning the system, but still you have managed to bring about a pretty neat piece.

In any case, don't give up! Keep up the good fight! I hear some excellent potential in you,I can't wait to hear you once we pump you up with some good samples ;).

TheWisestMagi responds:

You mentioned the peace, and overall good feeling portrayed in my song..and that I forgot that some people can't look at life this way. While I respect this opinion, I must give you my input, and thoughts I had while writing the song.

It is not supposed to realistically depict life, like "These game we play" or anything of the sort, for with this song I was going for the "Romantic" (not in common sense of word) approach... meaning that I was trying to portray what life should, not what it is. Also, the song was almost named something like "As the Leaves Fall" or some other name portraying not life as a whole, but a peaceful, or hppy place within it.

Thank you so much for the website, and soundfont ideas, I will download them as soon as I have the time..(I don't even have enough time to start another song right now...very busy for me this time is..).

Also, thank you so much for your input, kind words, and moral support! It means so much to me comming from such a renowned author such as yourself Maestro!

Impressive

I can tell right away that you do practice violin, because you can make the instrument sing so pure, so clean, you know how to make it speak!

The song is so short, but from what it's there it really does speak a lot. You've conveyed the image of a royal chamber rather well, it makes me think of nobility.

The spiccato cello sounds pretty neat, definately adds to the piece by offering a low end sound. I would have liked to hear it play a bigger role, perhaps another melody along with the violin.

In any case the piece was well done. Keep up the good fight and keep them coming quickshot!

quickshot-x responds:

Thankyou again maestro, i cannot live without creativity in my work. I find the violin interesting so i have been taking lessons for two years now. Things in iran have been busy for me lately, it gets very difficult to have spare time on the computer. But i do whatever i can on my computer when i have spare time. You indeed know very well how to express another mans song, thankyou for the review maestro. i will be expecting much more from you to, keep up the good fight maestrorage!

Interesting

what an interesting image I get from this piece. I don't get a sad core, or at least not a pure sad core. As if the person who is apologyzing is doing so with tears of frustration, or subconcious anger. As if they have to do it, but do not fully believe in it.

The lower end notes WERE a tad loud, and as mentioned before hand there was some minor clipping, but not that bad in my opinion.

The repetitive melody at the beginning serves to induce a form of trance like state to the listener, and is also appropriate for these kind of songs.

I wonder what the song would have been like if you had added another melody on top of all this on a higher octave. Sad fragile feelings in my opinion are very well portrayed by the high end of the piano.

In any case, good stuff! Keep up the good fight and keep them coming Karco, you have composed this well.

Karco responds:

Huh, that's an interesting way to put it. Similar to the message I was trying to give in the song - I won't say it here for the sake of other reviewers' images - though you can PM me if you want to know the message I was trying to convey.

Yeah, the lower notes were a bit loud. I thought the steady, consistent lower harmony gave that "I have to do this even though I don't want to" feeling.

Anyway, glad that you like it. =) I think I'll try another classical sometime. Any chance you could send me a PM with some good places to get orchestral instruments? All I have right now are the instruments that came with FL 6. =P

Impressive!

Well I don't know what everybody else is talking about, I really liked the drums! To me they provided a great and energetic core for which the other sounds stood off. It emphasized the happy euphoric kind of feeling I got from the synths and melody and reinforced it with the needed strength to keep them going.

What really impresses me however is the instrument choices. The synths are really strange, yet they work so well together. It makes me think of riding a bike through an orchard of cherry blossom trees. Don't know why exactly, but there you have it!

The melody only furthars that feeling.

I would have liked to perhaps hear another synth come in somewhere along the way, to kind of mix it up you know. What you have here all mix in perfectly, but sometimes I felt myself yearning for a contrasting instrument, you know, like a deep saw. GRRRRRRRR!!!!

That could just be my current mood. In any case, I leave the track once again very satasfied. One of you these days you guys HAVE to tell me who you are, you're both (all?) doing a great job, keep up the good work!

Critical-Collision responds:

Thank you for another review MaestroRage, we're glad you like the piece.

Strange instrument choices, we wanted something a little less conventional, and were careful in the instruments we chose, some may like it, others may not like it, we just make what we love to make and if others love it too, that's great too.

Thank you
