Hello Dark-DJ

I've been dwelling into hip hop lately, starting from Cajete (I still don't like the fact he wants to quit, I hope he changes his mind).

I like the sounds you have in here, the reverbed claps were a good idea, added a neat effect, the sound effects however, maybe you might want to reconsider them. Any preset used in FL Studio will generally leave a bad impression in people's minds, especially in those that have used the program themselves, it makes the piece look less effort was put into it, which is of course, never the case.

THe song flows pretty smoothly, did you use any Syntrus in this? I think that melody lead is a Syntrus but I could be wrong.

Loops pretty damn well too.

Good stuff Dark-Dj, keep them coming.

MattBlade responds:

well i cant take the credit ivebeen taking example from 187 he let me and me bro have alot of sounds and i saw he was reverbing his snare so i thought it was a good idea, but i very much appreciate the review.

Damn fine

awesome, vocals very crisp, meaningful lyrics, great tonal control. In my opinion a full fledged commercial song.

Anything I say will classify as ranting, so I will stop here, I really liked this song, because it related a fair deal with myself.

Good stuff, keep them coming!

5/5 from me.

royalelevator responds:

Thanks a bunch, I finally feel as though I'm putting out a near-finished-product quality of what I envision my songs to be.

awesome guitar skills. There were some brief seconds of hesitation, so I think you still have a ways to go, but i'm not saying nothing, I can't even play the piano, all my music is done through the glorious mouse. Long may she click.

Anyways, nice melody, I enjoyed it a good deal.

Pissomatik responds:

Thanx for the good vibe. Most of my music is done via mouse also.

hey Aeterminus (definately not Solus... really)

My first thought concerned that sound effect at the beginning, I remember that sound effect, and it's quite overused i'm afraid. I would advise removing it.

Other then that, this is actually a very dark ambiant track. Those pads are just so damn evil, and the laid back and chilled melody makes it pretty damn scary, like the mind of an insane psychotic murder being the pads, and the smile they give you being the melody.

Damn fine...

Keep them coming Aeterminus.

Aeterminus responds:

Alrighty then, if I make a V.2 of this song, say goodbye to that sound. Next, wasn't really meant to be evil. I see it now though, and that makes me happy.

And thank you for the review! Makes my day.

Awesome first try!

Hmm, I hear some good potential in you Exuropennae. The whole percussional aspect was rather mediocore (if you try using Reverb preset 4 (cathedral), I promise that it would give you a pretty damn neat effect)

Also, before the choirs come in, I would think a buildup would be in order.

Try to keep the sounds of synths down, the part where the choir and that synth is going off at the same time, the synth is FAR too loud.

Use the compresser effect in the master mixer, it will keep distortion and volume levels down a good deal.

You have good melodic work, but the song itself is repetitive.

However this sounds like my first song, so i'm not paying attention to the sounds persay, but the melody behind them.

Keep them coming Exuropennae, I see you hitting big, should you take your time and expand.

Exuropennae responds:

Thanks for the review, and the amazing tips. Yeah, i just got this program a few days ago. I was toying around with it and then started writing stuff. I'm a guitarist at heart, so a lot of this stuff may sound like crazy guitar solos and stuff. But as for these technical aspects, I'm just getting started. I have barely even messed with any settings or anything like that. This is just basic stuff right now. Me trying to learn it. But the positive feedback is amazing. Thanks.

Really kicking! I was bobbing my head for most of the time.

Good kick work, and the synths are fast, but still they leave a good effect. My only thought about this piece is, why there was no pad in use. I think a pad would have provided a good foundation for the rest of the song, it feels a tad empty like this.

Thats all I really have to say about this piece, it was pretty neat. Keep them coming!

C3NTAURI0N responds:

pads eh, ye i could do another version of this sometime soon and maybe use a pad. thanks for the tip and revu

Impressive

I don't know about small speakers, but on earphones it works just wonderfully.

An interesting mix for sure, you mixed in that piano pretty well with everything else. Did you apply a flanger effect on that piano, it seems oddly, yet pleasently, twisted in sound.

Very interesting synths, I don't think i've heard them around, but they work quite well here.

I'm sorry I don't have much to say, i'm not very well versed in the electronic world yet. However from some of your songs I think you enjoy instrumentals as well. I would like to ask you to listen to my first songs, I plan to dive into electronic music, and would like to see if you have any ideas on what I could do to these pieces electronically.

5/5 from me DrMontigo, this was truly entertaining to listen to.

Impressive!

Hello Rikognition.

I can't believe nobody has reviewed this yet. It sounds so damn professional, and I could see this playing in any game.

I've been looking desperately for ethnic instruments, what is that string instrument at the very beginning, and which VST did you use for it?

Nice piano melody, I really liked it, especially when those string stabs showed itself, that part was really really something. I felt that it made for a great "regret" kind of feel, like marching through the darkness kind of feel.

And it loops perfectly, a huge plus in my books.

Good use of the bass, I didn't see that coming.

Have you ever considered using an organ in this piece, for some reason I think it would sound perfect in that segment with the short string notes, but on the other side of that coin, it might jeapordize the feel of the song entirely.

I would like you to listen to my track Cloaks of Wonderment, I think you may like it, as it is in the same style as this song, I would like to hear what you think I could add/remove from it.

Easily a 5/5 from me Rikognition, keep them coming!

Impressive

I really liked it, it was full of energy, and was that a cheering crowd sfx I heard in the background.

I think you also did something a vocal? It sounds like robotised, chopped up voice, and that was amazing. You'll have to pm me and tell me how you did that.

Overall I don't think you're a beginniner at this in any aspect, It was pretty damn fine.

dj-Nate responds:

Just PMed you :). Hope it helped. And yeah, It was a cheering background. I made it a little quieter than normal so it doesn't overpower anything. So thanks for the review man.

Hey G0RtH

Thoght i'd drop a visit at your page at 4:30 in the morning... yes, caffeine keeps the body alive so that it can self destruct slowly yes?

Anyways. I really liked this piece, truly it was ambiance. You've improved a LOT in such a short time. I would just say be careful with your sounds, remember to use the compresser effect in your master mixer, i'm hearing a great deal of distortion in the song, on the edges, not huge distortion that overpowers instruments, but distortion that says unmastered.

Other then that, at so late, this song really relaxed me. Take a visit to my new page sometime, and check out my new song, I think you'll like it.

G0RtH responds:

I actually DID use the compressor... I had just forgotten to listen To the mp3 before I submitted it or I would have noticed tha t it was not EQd at all

I consider this account an important chapter in my life
