Good effort

hey brandon2002

A neat idea you have going on here, you have a rather neat melody line.

I like it better when the flute is playing with the strings over the piano, I felt the piano kind of disrupted the song's flow, but with the strings, it worked marvelously.

I would recommend for the piano to be playing much deeper lower chords, or even just a constant note, to bring about more sadness.

When you mention king, I get the feeling of a sad epic, and epics use a good deal of french horns and strings. Of course I understand that you are a beginner in Fruity Loops, and it took me a good while to get good at it, this piece reminds me of my early works.

I hear some good potential in you Brandon, keep up the good fight and keep them coming! I'd like to invite you to check out my work sometime!

I will defintly check out your music!

wow, you have a band?!?!?!

You've voice is very crisp, very powerful, I like it, and I can understand the lyrics!!! A feat rare here in our dear and beloved audio portal.

I don't know the original file, as this is a cover.

Meh.

I have absolutely nothing to say about the piece Setu, sorry I can't think of anything, but I wanted to drop my support anyways, you're a great deal more talented then I originally thought.

Setu-Firestorm responds:

Actually, I don't have a band. All of this was virtual instruments. I step-recorded every part to this song (including drums), and spent at least 2 to 3 hours EQing everything just the way I wanted it.

Thanks for the compliment, although it almost sounded a bit "I didn't like you at first"-ish. =P

Anyhoo, thanks.

Neat

ah you're a member of soundaid too!?

Heh, I am also! I'm glad you've joined the effort.

Now onto teh song.

Many several good points were brought up, it has a very retro, neat feel to it. I didn't quite see Sonic, but I saw... like... Tetris.

Don't ask why, but I did :D

quite a strange mix of sounds for sure. Glitchy, happy, and segments of more serious tones.

In any case, it WAS a rather interesting piece attempted. Keep em coming!

attemptedperfection responds:

Haha, wasn't I the one who got you interested in soundaid to begin with? I'll have to check out your page... anyway, glad you liked it, and thanks for the review! (nobody's mentioning the crazy mixing of time signatures in the beginning of the song! I guess that means I did such a good job that nobody noticed ;)

hmm

You just love to give me these chills >:(

Your songs are going to make me all depressed, and paranoid. This one sounds like some crazy zombie is consuming and in the background, a choir of demons are singing this song, which I guess was pointed out to be a beatles song.

I love this version more though, far more... entertaining >:}

There are birds in the background?!

Loops damn well too.

Where did you get these sound effects, that eating, glass clinking, flesh ripping sounds, are evil :(

Well made Red, keep up the good fight!

RedHotPoker responds:

I honestly cant believe i scared you with these. And as for where i got all the sounds from..... I made them all myself. :) I am probably most prod of this song as it is almost completely mine. (except the Beatles)And if there are birds in the background i didn't put them there :D

Thank you for another great review.

my god...

JEBUS! What the hell was that?!

That insane crackling sound, that FREAKY ass monster sound. It brings back way too many Silent Hill memories... I couldn't sleep for months ._.

MONTHS!

In any case, this is one of the best scares i've had in a really long time. Where did you get these samples?! That speaking in the beginning was perfect... pure ace. It set the mood perfectly.

Keep them coming RedHotPoker, this was... brilliant.

RedHotPoker responds:

Lol. I'm sorry if i brought back horrible memories of silenthill. I honestly cant believe that I scared you. Lol thanks man your an inspiration.

Sweet

This one was rather entertaining too. I didn't quite find it as scary as the other one, but the choirs here work excellently. Where did you get the choir sounds?

In any case, it's another great ambiant piece. I should really try my hand at this genre.

How did you build that very end, with those crazy build up of sounds before it loops. I've always wondered how to do that.

In any case, another great work, i'm glad I jumped to your page. Keep up the good fight RedHotPoker :D! Keep em coming.

RedHotPoker responds:

I'm afraid to say that i took the choir from the fable game album. :( There's like two entire tracks of just silence and beautifully done choir. Also the crazy build up sound is some what of a mystery to me. I can't remember what i did but i guess I just took a string sound and doted it around and then have a underlying synth panning across.

Anyway thanks for the review.

A very interesting title, and a very interesting atmosphere.

You know what... this song actually scares me. I mean really, the more I listen to it, the more scared I get. I actually had to turn it off after I turned off the lights in my room and listened to it in the darkness.

It's the imagery I get from that crackling old record sound (how DID you get that?), and the steady thumping, with the ever so faint synths.

It's a damn useful loop if ever I heard one. Well done, keep up the good fight!

RedHotPoker responds:

Lol. I scared you? You have no idea how good that makes me feel inside. :) And seen as your interested, i have a really old mike (from like 7 years ago) and when you record silence it gives off the sound of constant static. So i simple injected silence every so often and boom it was done.

Impressive!

A very laid back and interesting melody. Those guitar synths played such a mellow, great loop. I swear I could listen to just that for hours.

Of course you didn't just leave it at that though, the gradual progression of the song was brilliant. I loved how it evolved from it's core, constantly expanding, yet remaining familiar.

Nice use of delay and reverb.

After the momentary break down though, when the songs JUMPS UP in it's FUURAAAAY! Thats when it really started to speak to me. Honestly, a really powerful, awesome segment.

I am quite impressed by the diversity of the song, you have a very large selection of sounds going off and on here.

Easily a 5/5 from me Nostrap, i'd like to invite you to check out my work sometime! Keep up the good fight!

Nostrap responds:

thanks for the excellent review. ill check out your stuff for sure.

:D

That harpischord melody reminds me of Final Fantasy 8's Libus... something or other. The theme they had for that parade with teh evil sorcerress.

In any case, the beat itself is pretty damn solid, the brass stabs really did add quite a few layers of yes!

Of yes I say!

The percussional work was pretty solid too, it didn't alternate much, but for what was there, it was well done.

I don't have much else to say Zajed, it was a great track, well enjoyed ;). Keep up the good fight, and keep them coming!

Zajed responds:

omfg late response i totally forgot

ok i must say i copied the james bond theme lol

the stabs were realy hard work, so were the drums too

thanks for such a good review
again sorry for the late response

thanks i say

This has an incredible melody, it is INCREDIBLY catchy, and has my head bobbin throughout!

My only problem is the equalizing. It was... well... quite lacking. Everything was way too loud in my opinion. I know the song is damn awesome at big volume levels, but there was a great deal of "mushing" because of this.

There wasn't much diversity to the piece, same melody again and again, with some changes in synth.

Still though, it was a very well crafted piece, incredibly catchy. Keep up the good fight! keep em coming! I'd like to invite you to check out some of my work sometime.

DJ-RF responds:
